Cisco ATA Fax Adapter
What is a Cisco ATA Fax Adapter?
The Cisco ATA fax adapter converts a Voice over IP line to an analog line. This conversion allows your fax adapter to work as it did before switching to a VoIP phone system.
Connections
How to correctly connect the adapter
- White: This is where the power cable should be connected
- Red: This is where the internet cable should be connected, the other end of the cable should be connected to a wall jack, or another source of internet
- Blue: This is where the analog line should be connected, the other end of this should be going to your fax machine in the Line or Phone port
Status Lights
What do each of the status lights mean?
- Red: This is a busy/status light. If it is blinking, then a fax is being processed
- Green: Power light
- Blue: Internet link light, this should always be blinking, this signifies traffic being carried across it. If this light is off, then you do not have an internet connection
- Pink: These are the phone status lights, phone one should always be lit green, if you have two fax lines, then both will be lit
